Cathay Pacific will inaugurate a nonstop route between its Hong Kong (HKG) hub and Dallas International Airport (DFW). The base of U.S. partners starts in April 2025, hence the announcement that Cathay Pacific's presence will be strengthened in North America.
Cathay Pacific officials said on Tuesday that they will launch a new route from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). Therefore, the Hong Kong-based airline will fly between its home hub and DFW beginning April 24, 2025, with four flights in each direction per week.
Therefore, Cathay Pacific uses the Airbus A350- 1000 jet to operate flights on this route; the Aircraft features 46 lie-flat business class seats in a reverse herringbone configuration. While the Aircraft doesn't feature the Airline's new Business Class seats in reverse herringbone configuration, which is featured on the Boeiing 777 - 300ER and, eventually, the 777-9, it is one of Cathay Pacific's better and more comfortable configurations.
Cathay Group Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau said: With our unique position of having deep roots in Hong Kong, being partly proud of China, and connecting the world, Cathay continues to build Hong Kong as a leading international aviation hub that connects people to the most exciting place of the world.
For the last few years, American Airlines has operated this route, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was suspended in the year 2020. Now, Cathay Pacific steps in as the fourth Oneworld carrier to serve DFW along with several competitive Airlines like Fiji Airways, Finnair, and Iberia and other oneworld partners, including British Airways, Japan Airlines, Qantas, and Qatar Airways.
Aviation expert Gary Leff of View from the Wing believes that this expansion is well-timed. Dallas offers excellent connectivity since American Airlines no longer flies to Hong Kong. This new flight route seems like a strong bet as Cathay Pacific rebuilds the U.S. route network, says Leff. "It even makes sense, most likely, before restarting flights like Washington Dallas.
