Recently, Philippine Airlines (PAL) has taken a significant step to make traveling more accessible, especially for the Borongan and nearby residents. Philippine Airlines, owned by Bilyonaryo Lucio Tan, they had introduced a third weekly flight from Borongan Airport in Eastern Summer to Cebu starting September 18. This new service will complement the existing flights on Mondays and Fridays.
The Borogon City government anticipates the additional flight will improve connectivity for residents and visitors. This is a significant step in making travel more accessible for Boroganons and residents of nearby towns, not only in our provinces but also in the adjacent areas of Northern Samar, says Borongan City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda.
Manila, Philippines—Philippine Airlines will launch a Wednesday flight for its Borongan-Cebu route before the end of September, adding this to the route's weekly Monday and Friday schedule.
Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda commented that this partnership offers renewed hope to Borongan and Eastern Samar. " The steady rise in passengers utilizing Borongan Airport is a clear sign that Air transportation is a crucial need for our community," he said.
PAL President and CEO Capt. Stanley Ng emphasized the Airline's dedication to providing reliable air service and fostering regional development.
Hence, the Cebu route began in December 2022; it served over 19,000 passengers. Cargo operations are also growing, and Agda has seen a rise in cargo traffic due to new airport initiatives, including agriculture and veterinary assistance desks.
This significant step mainly focuses on providing more convenient travel options for travelers flying between Cebu and Borongan. Therefore, three flights are available each week.
Philippine Airlines is honored to support Borongan City's growth. Our commitment to reliable and accessible air travel aligns with the city's mission of fostering development and bringing hope to Eastern Samar. By expanding our flights, we aim to connect communities and unlock further opportunities for the region. Ng said during the signing.
Ambil said in the phone interview that we have gained valuable insights from the operation so far, and with the support of national agencies, we hope to add a fourth weekly flight next year. Ambil also said that Cebu is the connecting hub for Borongan.
